The first regrets that come to mind are bad smart phones. First a cheap Motorola and later on a Shift phone. The Motorola simply had bad specs and updates stopped too soon.
The Shift was way worse. It regularely shut down while at 30-40% and only turned back on after charging for a while. The support blamed my charger, which charged my previous phone with no problem. Updates were messy. I think they did often not install successfully. After I sent it back a few years after purchase I belive I did not even get the full Pfand (deposit?) back without them giving a reason. But at that point I did not really care anymore...

Regarding software: I bought some movies, apps etc. on big tech platforms on accounts I cannot access anymore without uploading my ID.

After 3-4 years of not so much usage battery is at best two hours, and the left one is making an unbearable static noise whenever noise canceling or transparency mode is on. Only way to use them is with these off. Let alone that before this happened the noise canceling has been significantly degraded with the updates compared to the beginning.

On the excellent stuff I bought, and you mention keyboard, my Keychron Q6 Max is just a massive master piece. Works perfectly with any machine, you can reprogram it's internal memory, swap keys virtually and it stays what ever the machine you plug it to. Also each switch and keycap is replaceable, no more issue like the expensive Logitech G910 crap that failed on me after half a decade and that is not programmable outside Windows with the proprietary Logitech app.

I could do a very long list of purchase regrets but also a nice one on excellent purchase decisions.

Usually I regret more buying cheap stuff, I say to myselft, hey why not, it's just 10, 20, 30 bucks but then it's just one more useless Chinoisium crap taking space in my drawers or directly to get burned in the trash. Last in date, a USB vacuum / air blower to clean up keyboard and electronic but it sucks or sucks not at all, completly useless.

ebook tablet (I forget the name but it was one of B@N first iterations of it).

And a host of others.

Best was:

5th gen kindle (just replaced the battery) more than a decade old.

system 76 laptop is my daily driver. Its 7ish years old now and still working very quick.

Tape player that doubled as a clock....30 years later still works and is useful every day!

I also love the steam deck but ive been reading more than playing games lately.
